What time did we film?
During the open bit of our scene the time is late evening so the lighting is dark (Overcast) but bright enough for people to understand that at this moment the characters are not in peril. By using this time of day it helps to show that we are young student that have gone out to try and film going into the dangerous place.
Later when the young group go down into the dangerous boiler room the lighting gets darker and only the lights that they are carrying give the audience site. This was important because we wanted to make the audience feel that they are in the character's shoes and that something could be standing behind the camera at anytime. Even though the time of day was the same due to the fact that we were inside we didn't need to worry about the light being different. This is effective as the contrast between our first scene and when they go inside the boiler room shows the element of danger inside.
