Why font choice is important
Font choice is important because the wrong font can throw off the whole effect/vibe you're trying to give off with your OTS, this is because your font will need to match the certain style of film you're making as this will make your OTS seem much professional. Possibly the most important font choice is for the title of your movie, this is because your title shows the audience what they can expect from your movie. For example if your title in a horror film if your title is in cartoony like bubble writing then your film will not be taken seriously and will be seen differently as it won't appear to be scary to the audience due to its comedic style. However if you have a more simple title but something that showcases the horror genre in particular.
Sinister is a great example of a title that is simple but from it you can easily tell it is a horror movie, the fact that the title is monochrome goes with that black means death and danger. It is a very minimalistic font however the use of the drop shadow on the title gives it an eerie feel and the drop shadow used is very faint, this could be interpreted to be that in the movie there is something there in the shadows however it isn't very obvious.
This is written in capitals, some of the letters have been slightly sliced, this could be suggesting that the weapon used is sharp and possibly a knife. The word 'house' is written in red to signify blood. The splattered blood obviously signifies that there is going to be death or a murder in the film. We have taken inspiration from this title and used certain aspects of it in ours such as; using a grey/ silver like colour and a blood red colour to make up the title. We also decided to add splats of blood to the the letters to make it seem like a horror scene of sorts, we also distorted the letters to make them seem as if they have been sliced by a sharp object possibly a knife. We have also used the red on the words 'the devil' this is to emphasise that this is the danger in the movie as is the 'house' in this movie.
